His fiction often begins with a bizarre premise — children paying birth debt before they are allowed to be born, beauty standards that require bodily deterioration, machines continuing their work after the world around them has changed — but the focus remains on the people forced to live inside those systems.

His work uses body horror, bizarro concepts, and extreme imagery as tools for character and theme rather than shock for its own sake. The horror is not simply that terrible things happen. The horror is that everyone has already learned to explain them.
